Ryker's First Ornament!

This holiday has always been a special holiday for me. The magic of Christmas, the excitement, but most importantly the TRUE meaning of Christmas. Yes, Santa often takes the attention away from Jesus' birth and the importance of it, but I believe there are great lessons to learn from believing in a person you don't see who brings you joy! This is such a great time to be reminded to believe in the unseen, and be as excited about the wonders of Jesus as much as we are about Santa. Now that Ryker is here, Christmas feels even more special. I am so excited to teach him the real reason for Christmas, and to show him how magical it can be to believe in someone who you don't see but feel! I hope everyone can find time this busy season to remember how it felt as a child to be so excited during this holiday. This excitement didn't start with Santa, it started with Jesus and the many promises and miracles (gifts) to come!

First Annual Polar Express Party

Nana and Ahpa had all of us over for a Polar Express Party! As you can see from the picture below, my dad (Ahpa) was the conductor! And of course my mom made some delicious hot chocolate... and yummy breakfast (for dinner). We were mailed tickets to "board" the Polar Express Party, that Ahpa punched! We could not board without our pajamas on!
We had so much fun snuggling up and watching the movie. However, the best part was watching Parker watch it, and how excited he got! Nana and Ahpa gave him is very own, first bell! His reaction was priceless! This will definitely be a new tradition! Family Picture, just boarded the Polar Express Party, ready to watch the movie in our PJ's!

Cousins! They can't keep their hands off each other! HAHA they were holding hands before the cameras were out! Both enjoyed the party so much they didn't want to go to bed!!

Our little family! Daddy got new Pajama's for the occassion! And Ryker got a Santa hat!

Ryker LOVES to look at all of the the Christmas decorations, especially when daddy shows him around.

"It's a BELL!! I got a new bell too!" Right after the boy opened his bell on Christmas day Nana surprised Parker with a box that looked just like the one on the movie! Inside was Parker's very own bell! The look of excited was so cute, and well worth the anticipation!

Thanks you Nana and Ahpa, for such a fun night! It was so special for all of us! We can't wait for Ryker to be old enough to feel the excitement too!

December fun

Ryker meets Santa for the first time! Happy to just sit in Santa's lap, but wasn't willing to give us a smile!

Family picture by the beautiful tree! You just can't see it haha!

Waiting in line for Santa! He was getting a little antsy so we let him jump. Ryker LOVES to jump!

Melissa, Sadie, and I entertaining ourselves while high school perfomers sang to the kids.

Mommy and Ryker! He was such a trooper, it was way past his nap time!

Ahpa and his Ryker boy

Nana and Ahpa with their grandkids!

Kids with their kids! (Jake and Jessica you are next! hehe)

Wow it has been a while since I have updated this! And boy, have things changed! Ryker is one active happy baby boy! We are no longer on bottle strike... thank goodness... and we are loving all, ok MOST, of the foods being introduced! Ryker is rolling all over the place and has even shown some interest in crawling! Instead of babbling sounds he likes to yell happily and see how you react! We have full on giggle sessions which usually ends in all of us exhausted with full hearts! Ryker is really starting to take on a personality. He is such an easy going baby, that can just sit back and watch everyone else, and then when he feels like it, become the entertainer and make us laugh.

Today we think we started a new tradition, going to Tualatin Country Club with Nana and Ahpa for a Christmas Celebration! We got to meet Santa for the first time. Although he didn't smile for the picture he was quite content just sitting in his lap. Of course as soon as daddy picked him up he looked at Santa and gave him a huge smile. Sillly boy! We are so excited to celebrate Ryker's first Christmas! He already loves looking at our Christmas tree... and his little one in his room!

I can't believe Ryker is 7 months already! Time sure flies, I definitely need to get better at keeping this up since Ryker is changing everyday!

First Solid Food!

I am ready to eat... I think!

Wait! What is this?

Priceless! =)

Ok, it's not too bad!

I think I got the hang of this!

After Ryker's 4 month check up, the Dr. recommended we start feeding him solid foods. He has decided not to eat as milk during the day, so she felt this could help him with sustaining his weight gain. It was earlier than we wanted to start him on solid foods, but he seems to be just fine with it! We have now introduced rice cereal, peas, and this week we will be intruducing avocado!

Baptism

Talking to Pastor Brett

With our baby after getting baptized! As you can see, it was very entertaining for him!

Daddy and Son on a very special day!

My dad and Jake also got baptized! Such a great day to share with our family!

Anthony and I decided to get baptized this summer! It had been on both of our hearts for a long time, and the perfect opportunity arrived! This was a very special day for us, we were so happy we could do it in the presents of our baby... even though he was asleep in Aunt Lis's arms the whole time and of course he won't remember! It was a beautiful day!

15 weeks!

Beach day! Unfortunately this was a little premature! Ryker did not enjoy it, he is like his mommy and Uncle Geoff, he did not like the wind... needless to say our beach visit was cut very short... Next year for sure!

Not the best picture, as you can see Ryker was a little hungry ;) This was at Jake and Jessica's Rehearsal dinner at the Oregon Golf Club!

Hanging out with Nana!

Chillin in the Sun with Sunglasses from Grandma!

"I'm Ready for Jake and Jessica's wedding!!"

A tooth?!?

Last week Ryker had discovered that he likes to chew and suck on his hands. I didn't mind because he was learning to self sooth and I didn't need to give him a pacifier! Well one day I noticed he was chewing in one specific spot. I looked in his mouth and sure enough there was a white little "thingy" sticking out of his gums! At this point I proceeded to hold back tears while calling Anthony up right away, because holy cow my baby is only 13 weeks, we are just getting the hang of this nursing thing (without biting!) Ryker has also been stuffy for the last 2 weeks, so because of this I decided to take him to the doctor, thinking while I am there I can ask about this tooth!
Luckily the stuffy nose is due to the change of humidity nothing else, so we are good on that! While the doctor was checking his nose and ears, I told him about the tooth. He took one look at it and said very nonchalantly, "oh thats not a tooth." My heart stopped, of course I think of every horrible reason why there is a white thing sticking out of his gums. I had to pry further, are you sure this isn't a tooth, what the heck is it?? Apparently babies can get mucus cysts on their gums. This doctor obviously does not know me, because he doesn't explain to me that this is normal or common, until he looks at me and sees I am freaking out. At that point he finally realized he had to explain further... this is very common, I did nothing to cause this, and it will leave as quickly as it arrived.
So no, that white thingy that I so dreaded was a tooth, was really a cyst. As the doctor said, it left as quickly as it came. Go away white thingies, and don't come back for at least another 3 or 5 months! Thanks!
